Gender Reveal Cupcakes

Level of difficulty: Beginner

Is it a boy or a girl? Take a bite of these yummy cupcakes to reveal a pink or blue center.

Let’s Do This!

Step 1:
A) Bake cupcakes in Foil Baking Cups according to package directions. When cool, use a metal tip from the Flowers & Borders Tip Set to remove a plug from the center of the cupcake.
B) Pull the tip out and discard the cupcake plug. Tip: Use a toothpick to remove the cupcake plug from inside the tip.
Step 2:
A) Add Petal Pink or Sky Blue Pastel Food Coloring to some of the vanilla icing. Start with one drop and add more as needed. When the icing is the desired color, fill a 12” Decorating Bag using the Ruffle Tip from the Tip Set (Follow the instructions on the packaging for assembly of the Decorating Tip and Bag).
B) Fill the holes in the cupcakes using the blue or pink icing. Keep the icing even with the top of the cupcake.
Step 3:
A) Fill another 12” Decorating Bag with vanilla icing. Using the Ruffle Tip, and starting at the outside edge, pipe icing onto the cupcake working in a spiral towards the center.
B) Completely cover the top of the cupcake with white icing.
C) While the icing is still fresh, sprinkle Sugar Crystal Decorating Sprinkles over the top. Make an assortment of pink and blue sprinkled cupcakes.
Step 4:
A) Use the templates provided to trace the onesies and hearts. The onesies get traced onto the back of the solid pink and blue Watercolor Designer Paper. The heart gets traced onto the back of the gold Foil Paper.
B) Cut out the onesies and hearts.
C) Adhere the hearts to the onesies.
Step 5:
A) Tape Treat Sticks to the back of the onesies to create the cupcake toppers.
B) Insert the onesie cupcake toppers into the cupcakes.
