These bookmarks will make you the apple of anybody’s eye! Get ready for Back To School with these reading essentials.
Step 1:
A) Prepare the following steps by gathering 1 sheet of the 11”x14” White Poster Board, 1 sheet of red Construction Paper, and a half sheet of green Construction Paper.
B) Using the Spray Adhesive, adhere the red Construction fully onto the White Poster Board. Mount the green Construction Paper above the red. About half of the green will hang over the white.
C) Using the Craft Knife, separate the green and the red.
D) Next, cut off the strip of White Poster board. Be sure this save the piece for the next bookmark design!
Step 2:
A) Measure and cut a 2” wide strip from the red Construction Paper. Trim 1” off the top.
B) Cut a rounded scallop on the top and bottom of the rectangle to give it an apple shape.
Step 3:
A) Download, print, and cut out the apple core heart shape.
B) Apply Spray Adhesive to the back of the shape.
C) Carefully position the shape onto the red bookmark and press to secure.
Step 4:
A) Using the Silver Ribbon spool, trace the curved edge.
B) Position the spool so you get the opposite curve and trace. You should get a pointed oval shape.
C) Cut out multiple sizes of this shape. You will need at least two per bookmark – depending on how many you aim to make.
D) Using a pen or fine point marker, draw the veins of a leaf.
Step 5:
A) Use the Tacky Glue to apply the leaves to the top right corner.
B) Punch a hole in the bottom center.
C) Cut a piece of Silver Ribbon, about 12”, and fold in half. Thread the looped side through the punched hole and thread the cut edges through the loop. This should secure the ribbon. Trim the end of the ribbon to the length of your choice.
Step 1:
A) Mix together four colors and paint the arrows found in the Wooden Shapes bag. We mixed a teal (blue, green, white), an orange (red, yellow), a pink (red, white), and yellow straight from the tube. Let dry. While the shapes are drying, cut 1” off of the top of the leftover white strip of poster board.
B) Draw a vertical line down the right side of the bookmark, ¾” from the edge. Be sure to leave ½” at the top of bottom of bare board.
C) Punch a hole in the bottom of the bookmark, where the black line ends.
D) Use the Tacky Glue to adhere the four painted arrows evenly down the black line. Add a few details lines under the last arrow.
Step 2:
A) Download, print, and cut out the quotes strip(s) of your choice.
B) Apply Spray Adhesive to the back.
C) Position and adhere the strip to the left side of the bookmark.
Step 3:
A) Cut a piece of Silver Ribbon, about 12”, and fold in half. Thread the looped side through the punched hole and thread the cut edges through the loop. This should secure the ribbon.
B) Thread the ribbon with corresponding Pony Beads in the order of your painted arrows!
