The gorgeous, handmade leaves on this wreath will add a touch of autumn to your home décor. The wreath features pretty shades of orange and green, with touches of gold and brown – all classic fall colors!
Step 1:
1. Print out the template or make your own leaf shape templates. Cut out the templates.
2. Trace the templates onto patterned papers and book pages. Tip: Trace on the back side of the paper so that pencil lines will not be visible on the front.
3. Cut out the leaf shapes. You will need about 45-50 leaves to complete this project.
Step 2:
1. Using a paint brush, wet the leaves with water. You can do them in small batches.
2. While the leaves are wet, touch the edges of the leaves with watercolors. We used brown, orange and olive green. The color will wick into the leaves. Let dry.
Step 3:
1. Use brown acrylic paint to highlight the very edges of about half of the leaves. Let dry.
2. Use the gold metallic marker to highlight the very edges of the remaining leaves.
Step 4:
1. Randomly select a few leaves to paint with gold glitter paint. Let dry.
Step 5:
1. Glue the rims of two 9” paper plates together.
2. Cut a 5 ½” circle from the center of the paper plate to make a wreath form.
Step 6:
1. Slightly crinkle the leaves to give them dimension.
2. Randomly hot glue leaves to the wreath form. Mix the colors and styles of leaves as you work.
Tip: Every so often turn one of the patterned paper leaves backwards to show the white side of the leaf. This will break up the pattern and add a nice pop of brightness to the design.
