Love and Light Canvas

Level of difficulty: Advanced

Light up the night with this sparkling menorah canvas art this Hanukkah season!

What You’ll Need:

Let’s Do This!

Step 1:
Mix Blue and black paint together for a navy blue color and paint the entire canvas. Apply a second coat for a deep blue and better coverage. Let dry.
Step 2:
Fold 8.5” x 11” paper in half lengthwise and then in half again. Draw a curved border that will act as a quarter of the template. Cut out the shape with Scissors. Open the folded paper and cut shape in half.
Step 3:
Separate the cut out template and place one half at the top of the canvas and on at the bottom. Attach a second piece of paper in between the two pieces of template. Loosely secure the template to the canvas by placing tape loops on the back. Then spray paint the exposed border silver. Be sure to protect your work surface and follow the instructions on the spray paint.
Step 4:
Download print and cut out templates for the menorah, candles and flames. Attach the menorah template to the gold glitter tape (we overlapped two strips of tape to cover the shape) and cut around the edges. Attach the candle templates to the silver glitter tape and cut out all nine candles. Then cut the flame shapes out of the gold glitter tape to go with your candles. You can use our free template or draw them yourself.
Step 5:
Paint the small wooden letters to spell “LOVE AND LIGHT.” We used a mix of yellow with a little red and black to get a rich warm yellow. When the paint is still wet, dip each letter in gold glitter.
Step 6:
Hot glue the menorah, candles with flames and LOVE AND LIGHT letters into place.
Step 7:
Add gems to enhance the tips of the flames, accent the text and add extra sparkle anywhere on the canvas. Secure the gems in place with hot glue.
Step 8:
Use project knife to cut a small ‘X’ below each gem. Poke the lights through each hole from the back of the canvas. Add a small bead of hot glue to each light on the back of the canvas to keep them in place.
